Election Systems & Software, Innovations Group • User Experience Designer

  • I am a lead user experience designer involved in day to day leading of user experience design and strategy efforts for new flagship SaaS election products and web applications. I am also advocating and helping define the vision and practice of user experience design and research in product development.

Intel Labs, Personalized Computing Lab • User Experience Intern

  • Worked on Intel’s efforts on the Quantified Self project in designing an analytics tool for personal data aggregation and analysis. Contributed to the foundational interaction/visual design concepts for personal data analysis.

Intel Corporation, Software Pathfinding • User Experience Intern

  • Conducted user experience research and interaction design efforts for a project intersecting privacy, personal data, and context-aware computing. Developed the direction for the project's core interaction and visual design concepts, which were implemented and deployed in a beta-testing release. I also co-drafted a patent/project proposal for a context-aware laptop LCD privacy screen system.

Wolfram Research • User Experience Intern

  • Led the foundational interaction design wireframing and prototyping for a social network personal data aggregating system. In addition, I worked on smaller projects where I conducted research, designed, and tested other existing and new Wolfram products including Mathematica and Mathematica Journal.

Centerstone Research Institute • Design & Usability Intern

  • Evaluated and redesigned a digital clinical intake form system to facilitate physicians in patient data collection and improve the overall patient-physician experience. Co-authored evaluation and design recommendation reports and presentations and presented findings to the organization's executive stakeholders.

Pervasive Technology Institute • Multimedia Programmer/Web Developer

  • Co-developed a web and mobile application tool for water data collection and analysis for use by elementary school children in the state of Indiana. Explored physical computing development using the Wii remote and infrared sensors. Built a web application for managing data from an inventory of thousands of textiles manufactured by Rivatex in Kenya. Worked on the development and design of the FutureGrid Portal, and the eHumanity American Indian social networking project. Developed user experience recommendations and guidelines for the eHumanity project.

  • Worked as a graduate research assistant in the Human Centered Computing lab where I contributed on planning, designing, conducting, analyzing, writing, and presenting research data on electronic voting technologies including but not limited to: Single HTML ballot, ES&S ExpressVote Machine, Balloting Voting Concept.
